Roby’s story begins in Lee’s Summit, where from a young age, she demonstrated a remarkable talent and passion for performance, leadership, and community service. During her high school years at Lee’s Summit High School, she immersed herself in a variety of activities that not only showcased her diverse talents but also laid the foundation for her lifelong dedication to education and community betterment.
As a student, Roby excelled academically, earning induction into the National Honor Society and consistently ranking in the top 10% of her class. Her love for the performing arts flourished—she starred in productions like “Guys and Dolls” and “Brigadoon,” earning recognition as one of the top actresses in Missouri. She was actively involved in choir, theatre, debate, and forensics, always seeking opportunities to express herself and develop her skills.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, Roby displayed leadership and service. She served as president of the Future Homemakers of America (FHA) and became the regional FHA president, helping to organize conferences and leadership camps. Her classmates elected her as their Senior Class President, and she represented her school on the Student Council throughout her high school years.
Roby’s early experiences in leadership and performance were more than extracurricular endeavors; they were the building blocks of a resilient character and a commitment to service. These formative years fueled her passion for communication and community involvement, guiding her toward a career that would impact countless lives.
After high school, Roby’s journey took her to college, where she continued her pursuit of excellence in theatre and communications, starring in university productions and honing her craft. Her groundbreaking approach to teaching speech, drama, and video production in her early teaching career demonstrated her innovative spirit and dedication to student development.
Roby’s transition from educator to civic leader proved she was committed to making her community a better place. As Director of Lee’s Summit CARES, she grew the organization exponentially, launching programs like the Mayor’s Character Breakfast and initiatives addressing youth substance abuse and public health. Her efforts earned her numerous awards, including Citizen of the Year, a Community Partnership Award, and recognition for her leadership in promoting character and safety.
Her legacy of integrity, perseverance, and service continues to inspire, shaping the lives of students, families, and the entire Lee’s Summit community. Roby is not just a distinguished educator and community leader—her story is one of passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to living with purpose.
