Tom Lovell served as the Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation Administrator for 38 years. His efforts over that time grew our park system from 12 employees to 42, added 950 acres of park land, 77 miles of trails, three community centers, 18 parks, and one aquatic center. LS Parks and Recreation achieved accreditation and was also awarded NRPA’s prestigious “Gold Medal” award under Tom’s leadership.

Tom’s vision, leadership, and dedication inspired an award-winning and nationally respected parks and recreation system for the City of Lee’s Summit. His contributions extended well beyond Lee’s Summit, inspiring park and recreation professionals throughout the country.

Most recently, Tom was selected for the Missouri Parks and Recreation Hall of Fame.
